Cleansing the Shadows by Chiapetofdoom Cleansing the Shadows by Chiapetofdoom
Celestia's light shines amongst the dark changeling invasion.
(grimderp)

**********************

Playing with everything in the ~foreground~. Lighting isn't incredibly reflective as I wanted to have a strong dark vs light look limited to each side.

Celestia lacks her crown and wings - I felt she had enough going on, and they would of been a little overkill. The changelings to the left are somewhat abstract as I wanted to leave their shaky and twisted forms a bit to the imagination. To me the whole thing looks like it could be a cover for a graphic novel or something. Not sure yet.

I love that epic mane! I have never been able to create good armor, but you managed to create such an epic texture in it. I'm a little jelous :P

The background gives a great contrast to celestia. All the bodies of her foes lying in the ground and she walking forward, consuming the darkness with her magic!

Awesome work!

I've been working hard trying to learn how to add more texture and I'm glad you like it. I wouldn't be jealous! I just use different shapes and opacity until I find a soft/sharp combination that fits. I chop them up and rearrange them, etc. I'm sure you could do it just as well.

Thanks for the compliment too, I enjoy that you understand what I'm trying to portray.

I think that's the best anthro pony image I can remember seeing anywhere; nice use of the sun mark around her eye.
Not completely sure I know what's going on with her legs; can't quite decide if the right one is twisted, or if the cutie mark is on the front of the thigh. The head, with high collar and mane, looks excellent. Good choice on making the changelings formless, it keeps the focus on Celestia.

If that was on the cover of a graphic novel, it would certainly make me want to buy it!

I'm honored that you think so! I have been working very hard over the 5-6 months I've been on this site to learn how to illustrate on computers. I'm glad it pays off!

The legs are from a side view, and they might be anatomically off. The right one is simply the top haunch and ~knee~ of the leg, as the rest of it (and the bottom part of the left) are both being covered by changelings somewhat. It would be very fun to work on a graphic novel. To have a job working in this type of field has always been a dream for me.
